Err.... May 2004 and thereafter, Labour were in control. Not that it's relevant as the suggestion is of officers abusing their power.

The ombudsman stood up for the council - well there's a go!

There is a stench coming from the hallowed offices of RCT Council and its not sewage either.

How much longer can they keep the lid on things before the proverbial scores a direct and very messy hit at the rotary oscillator is anyones guess.Time the RCT craven councillors and politicos of all colours (and none) woke up to the antics of some of their Officers and did something.

However the words breath and hold immediately spring to mind.

Glad to receive your note. After some time surfing the RCT website, I failed to find the item. The RCT site seems almost as bad as the Assembly Government one.

Labour may be unhappy about apologising, but it would be better to.

I am a bit surprised that a planning officer would develop on his own account. I thought they got paid well enough.

And you make no comment about the bad bus stop signs ...

Or the council estates. although they are worse in Aberdare. Perhaps RCT should follow B'end's path, including training people to do the work via apprenticeships, etc. I know Plaid are opposed to the filthy capitalists of housing associations taking over; but HAs aren't capitalist-run.

Clive you really do let your political prejudices get in the way of objectivity. If you read the story which is on the the web you will see that the planning application was lodged in May 2004 when RCT was run by my good friend Puline Jarman and Plaid Cymru. Yu will also see that the Ombudsman rejected any allegation of favouritism on the part of the Council because one of the developers was a council officer. As the great C P Scott once said 'comment is free but facts are sacred.'
