But I&#039;m not sure that monarchism is necessarily all that bad. If we were to have the situation where the Assembly became a pure legislature, with the executive fully detached and headed by a directly-elected Premier (with confirmation hearings for his nominated ministers), with reserve powers vested in a Governor-general, it would technically still be a monarchy, but one that would fulfil most republican principles.</description>
