I was referring to recent mentions during the expenses saga. Certainly the story has been around for some time. What is the reference for the 2006 WM story ?

One hates searching most journalistic websites for any stories which aren't recent. Several websites have degraded appallingly recently, eg the Daily Telegraph and the BBC.

Clive, you're entitled to your point of view, but it's a myth that The Western Mail "ignored" the Huw Lewis-Lynne Neagle story.

The story was in fact broken by the paper in April 2006.

Just to be clear, I DID NOT argue with the Commission that I should have a second home.

I rent a flat as I am allowed to do so under the rules and have tried to justify that decision to those who have questioned it. What I told the press conference you were at Clive is that the Independent Commission did not accept arguments such as those I had made and that I would abide by their judgement.

At no time did I give evidence to the Commission on my own behalf or to justify my own circumstances. I gave them an honest appraisal of what an AM's work involves and how the expenses system needed to be reformed to make them more acceptable.
