Henry Jones-DaviesPlaid Cymru in Preseli Pembrokeshire have selected Henry Jones-Davies,  founder and  publisher of Cambria Magazine, member of the Gorsedd  and originator of the annual St.David’s Day Parade in Cardiff  (amongst many other accomplishments) as their candidate for the forthcoming Westminster General Election.

Plaid’s chairman in Preseli, Chris Gillham said: “We are pleased to have a candidate of the calibre of Henry Jones-Davies to represent our party at the next General Election. Henry is a man of wide experience and knowledge, both of Wales and the wider world and has contributed much to the development of Wales as a modern and confident nation.’

Mr Jones-Davies said: “I am delighted to have been chosen to fight Preseli for Plaid. The forthcoming election will be of great importance to Pembrokeshire and the rest of Wales, and Plaid will be the only party presenting policies created in Wales, for Wales.”

We say… ” a proper candidate at last! Someone untainted by ExpenseGate, house flipping and with experience of the real world outside of the public sector or politics. Pob lwc, Henri.”

  1. Well done Henry. Llongafarchiadau. Now we’ve got a candidate head and shoulders above the rest.

  2. I agree with Gul – you’ll be an asset to Sir Benfro and yr Hen Wlad. Pob lwc hen gyfaill.

  3. Yes, a man with experience of life outside the public sector or as a political insider. A man with hinterland. Good choice.

  4. If Cambria is anything to go by, a successful Welsh entrepreneur. Excellent.

  5. Henry is a very impressive candidate and yet another sign that Plaid are very serious about being the largest party in 2011. He would make an excellent AM for his constinuency and also a powerful voice for our nation.

    This is good news.

  6. Mr Jones-Davies is indeed a good candidate and he may stand a good chance against a known Tory Toff house flipper. This, however, doesn’t make up for the poor line-up of public sector ‘troughers in waiting’ in other parts of Wales such as Sir Gaerfyrddin.
Plaid Cymru needs to understand that it is jobs and the economy that are uppermost in people’s minds, not language or nationalist issues, important as these are. PC needs to set its candidate bar much much higher even at the risk of fielding no candidate at all.

  7. just wait till u see the lib dem candidate!
