Lib DemsSgroll down for English

Y Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol

Ers talwm, ymhell cyn yr Etholiad Cyffredinol, yr oeddwn oʼr farn fod y Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol yn amherthnasol i Gymru. I beth maen nhwʼn dda? Efallai bod lle yn Lloegr ar gyfer trydedd blaid, ond yng Nghymru gyda Phlaid Cymru, Llafur aʼr Ceidwadwyr sut wyt tiʼn ffitio plaid arall i mewn?

Oʼr ychydig oʼr Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol yr wyf wedi dod ar eu traws, ar wahân i Richard Livsey, maent yn ymddangos yn academyddion Seisnig dosbarth canol syʼn darllen y Guardian ac yn gweithio iʼr prifysgolion. Agwedd trahaus sydd ganddynt i Gymru a dyheadauʼr Cymry. Yn yr etholiad Cyffredinol, allan o ddeugain o ymgeiswyr, dim ond dau oedd yn Gymraeg.

Ers yr etholiad mae fy agwedd iddynt wedi newid i un o gasineb. Yr wyf yn casáuʼr ffaith, diolch iʼr ddadl ar y teledu gyda Nick Clegg yn dod drosodd fel meseia gwleidyddol, y cawsant gymaint o bleidleisiau yng Nghymru. Yn etholaeth Arfon gydag ymgeisydd papur, ni ddaeth iʼr etholaeth yn ystod ymgyrch yr etholiad, llwyddant i ennill 14% oʼr bleidlais. Yng Ngheredigion daethant y blaid i bleidleisio drosti i gadw Plaid Cymru allan.

Diolch iddynt werthu allan iʼr Ceidwadwyr maent wedi gwneud cam mawr aʼu hunain Nid yw llawer a bleidleisiodd drostynt yn hoffiʼr llywodraeth clymblaid. Gydaʼr refferendwm ar fwy o bwerau iʼr Cynulliad allai fod yn anfanteisiol fod y Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol ar ein hochr ni.

Pris y Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol oedd refferendwm ar AV. I fi AV ywʼr sianel ar y teledu rwyt tiʼn ei defnyddio i diwnio fideo i mewn. Pan ddawʼr refferendwm ar AV awgrymaf y defnyddiwn ni’r cyfle i bleidleisio yn erbyn y cytundeb ConDem a gwneud bywyd yn anodd iʼr Democratiaid Rhyddfrydol.

The Lib Dems

For some time, long before the General Election, I have regarded the Lib Dems in Wales as being an irrelevancy. What are they good for? Perhaps there is room in England for a third political party, but in Wales with Plaid, Labour and the Tories where do you fit another party in?

From the few Lib Dems I have come across, apart from Richard Livsey , they seem to be English, middle class, Guardian reading intellectuals who work in the universities. Their attitude to Wales and Welsh aspirations is one of condescension. In the General Election out of forty Lib Dem candidates, only two spoke Welsh.

Since the election my attitude to them has change to one of deep dislike. I resent the fact, that thanks to the TV debate where Nick Clegg came over as a Political Messiah, that they won so many votes in Wales. In the Arfon constituency with a paper candidate, who never showed her face during the election campaign, they managed to win 14% of the vote. In Ceredigion they became the party to vote for to keep Plaid out.

Thanks to them selling out to the Tories they seemed to have signed their own death warrant. Many people who voted for them in Wales do not like the coalition. With the coming referendum on greater powers for the Assembly having the Lib Dems on side could be a liability.

The Lib Dems price was a referendum on AV. To me AV is the channel on your TV you use to tune the video in. When the referendum on AV comes I suggest we use it as opportunity to vote against the ConDem pact and make life difficult for the Lib Dems.
